Planet Zoo 2 sends a lot of alerts, and some of the wording isn't very clear. Here's every alert I've run into, what it really means and how to fix it.

Animal alerts

Alert What it means How to fix it
Dangerous animal escaped An animal got out Use emergency capture, then check the traversable heat map and move the tree or rock it used
Habitat is too small Too many animals for the space (often after babies) Move animals to storage, quick release or make a release group, or make the habitat bigger
Social group too big A youngster has grown up and the group is over its limit Move the youngest out to the trade centre
About to inbreed Related animals are about to breed Put contraceptives on the offspring or move them out
Incorrect temperature / freezing / overheating Outside the species' range Add a heater or cooler; check water temperature for water animals
Low welfare will attract protesters Welfare has dropped low Open the welfare panel and fix the worst need
Animal cannot vacate high-stress areas away from guests Nowhere to hide from visitors Add a cave, dense plants or a corner out of view
Boxed outside habitat for too long The animal's crate is stuck somewhere Click it and move it into its habitat
Predation occurring One animal is eating another (often sharks and small fish) Separate them, or accept it if that's intended
About to die of old age Normal life cycle Plan a replacement
Offspring due… A baby is on the way Check the habitat has room
Research gate requires action / progress blocked Research needs something done first, usually a release Release that species into a reserve

No keeper to refill the feeder Keepers are too busy or none are assigned Hire more keepers for that zone
Facility inaccessible Staff can't get in (often a vendor stuck inside) Fix the path to the building's staff entrance; try deleting and replacing it
Multiple facilities with low condition Things need repairs Hire or train mechanics
Habitat barrier damaged An animal (often wolves) is wearing down the fence Mechanic repair; consider a stronger barrier
Facility broken down A solar panel, pump or other item stopped working Urgently request a mechanic

Building and power alerts

Too steep Path or barrier slope too steep, or not all pieces selected Lower the slope; select the whole barrier

Animals less than 1 m from the water level can cause obstructions You're editing water with animals nearby Move the animals away or box them first
Incomplete boundary The barrier isn't closed Connect the last section
Insufficient funds Not enough money Wait, sell something, or take a loan
Terrain modification failed Something is blocking the edit (path, barrier, scenery) Check for objects, or turn off "deformation blocked by scenery"

How to stay on top of alerts

  • Pause when a big batch of alerts arrives and work through them one by one.
  • Fix the cause, not the symptom. Five sick animals is really one broken pump.
  • Dismiss alerts you've handled so new ones stand out.
